The attack took place around 2 pm near Koutruk village. According to the Koutruk Village Gram Panchayat chairman, suspected armed militants began firing unprovoked at a time when village volunteers were not present in the vulnerable areas. The sudden and violent attack resulted in the death of two individuals, including a woman, while four others, including her daughter, sustained injuries.
