In 2023, Interpol issued 100 Red Notices at the request of India, marking the highest number of such notices in a single year. These notices, which call on global police forces to locate and provisionally arrest criminals and fugitives wanted by Indian law enforcement, have been instrumental in returning 29 criminals last year and 19 so far this year, according to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Praveen Sood.
During the 10th Interpol Liaison Officers (ILO’s) Conference in Delhi, Sood highlighted that the CBI's Global Operation Centre managed 17,368 international assistance requests in 2023. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in combating criminals who operate across borders, stating, "Criminals are no longer constrained by borders, and neither should our efforts to combat them."
The conference was attended by representatives from various global law enforcement agencies, including BKA (Germany), FBI (USA), National Police Agency (Japan), National Crime Agency (UK), and others. The event focused on enhancing both formal and informal international police cooperation to tackle crime, criminals, and their illicit activities.

He stressed that law enforcement professionals must be well-versed in coordinating international assistance in criminal matters.
