UP Family Allegedly Dies by Suicide Due to Harassment by Loan Recovery Agents

In a tragic incident in Sapnavat village of Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district, a couple and their 18-year-old daughter allegedly died by suicide after being harassed by loan recovery agents from a private bank. Sanjeev Rana, aged 48, had taken a loan of ₹5 lakh for his children's education but was reportedly unable to repay it.
According to police reports, on the night of August 31, five recovery agents visited Rana's home and allegedly threatened the family. Feeling distressed by the harassment, Sanjeev Rana, his wife Premvati, and their daughter Payal consumed poison.
The family was rushed to a private hospital in Meerut by villagers, but Sanjeev Rana passed away on Sunday night, followed by his wife and daughter on Monday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the family's financial difficulties and pressure from recovery agents led to the tragic incident. However, no formal complaint has been lodged with the police so far.
