India's javelin star, Sumit Antil, continued his dominance in the Paralympics by winning another gold medal in Paris on September 2. Entering the competition as the top favorite, Sumit lived up to the expectations with a spectacular display of skill, breaking his own Paralympics record not once, but twice during his six throws.

Sumit had previously set a Paralympics record with a 68.55 m throw in Tokyo to win his first gold medal. He surpassed that record with his very first attempt in Paris, throwing 69.11 m, which gave him an early lead in the contest. But Sumit was not done yet; his second throw shattered his own record again with an impressive 70.59 m, further extending his lead.

His third throw measured 66.66 m, while the fourth throw was disqualified due to a fault. Sumit then delivered another powerful throw of 69.04 m in his fifth attempt, solidifying his position as the clear winner. Although Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku offered some competition towards the end, it was not enough to surpass Sumit, who concluded the day with a 66.57 m throw.

Sandeep and Sanjay Disappoint

India had additional representation in the event with athletes Sandeep and Sanjay Sandip Sargar participating. However, they were unable to replicate Sumit's success, finishing 4th and 7th respectively. Sandeep's best throw was 62.80 m, achieved on his third attempt, while Sanjay's best throw was 58.03 m, also on his third attempt.

Sandeep's Throws: 60.00 m, 59.30 m, 62.80 m, 60.34 m, Foul, 62.55 m
Sanjay's Throws: 54.86 m, 57.04 m, 58.03 m, 55.45 m, 57.96 m, 56.30 m
