An elderly couple in Pune fell victim to a daylight robbery, losing jewellery worth ₹5 lakh while they stopped to eat vada pav at a roadside shop. The incident, which was recorded on a nearby CCTV, took place on Thursday afternoon as the couple was returning from the bank on their two-wheeler.
The footage shows the couple parking their scooter near a food joint, with the man entering the shop to purchase the popular snack. Meanwhile, the woman waited by the scooter. Moments later, a man on a motorcycle, wearing a face mask, stopped nearby and pointed out to the woman that something had fallen on the road.
During this distraction, another man in a white shirt, who had been surveying the area, quickly grabbed a bag containing the jewellery from the scooter and fled. The woman, realizing what had happened, tried to chase after him and shouted for help, but the thief escaped.

Reports indicate that the stolen bag also contained important bank documents and the couple's mobile phone. The local police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the theft.
