PM Modi to visit Maharashtra today to honor 1.1 million 'Lakhpati Didis'.


The government has set a target to make 30 million 'Lakhpati Didis


 Narendra Modi, India’s prime minister, will travel to Jalgaon in the state of Maharashtra on Sunday to reward 1.1 million new Lakhpati Didis who crossed the mark during his third term in office.

 In an official statement on Saturday, Modi said he would also release a revolving fund of Rs 2,500 crore to about 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh self-help groups (SHGs).


 He will provide bank loans worth Rs 5,000 crore to 2.58 million members of 2.35 lakh SHGs, it added.

 As of today, since the scheme for making every woman a 'Lakhpati Didi' (a female member of a self-help group earning Rs 1 lakh annually) was launched, one crore women have enlisted into the system.
