'Sexual offenders will face the death penalty': Shivraj Singh Chouhan reacts to Kolkata rape-murder case
The recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has sparked widespread protests across the nation.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident on Monday (August 26) and emphasized that those responsible should receive the death penalty. He noted that the Kolkata incident has deeply disturbed the public and highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made provisions for capital punishment for individuals who harm our innocent daughters. Chouhan quoted PM Modi, stating, "Such criminals will not be spared. Anyone who molests our daughters will face the death penalty."
Shivraj further mentioned that PM Modi has instructed all states to ensure that every possible effort is made to impose the strictest punishments on offenders. Chouhan reaffirmed the central government's commitment to pursuing justice in this matter without reservation.
