This morning, the Tamil Nadu-based start-up Space Zone India with Martin Group launched its first reusable hybrid rocket 'RHUMI-1' from Thiruvidandhai in Chennai.

A mobile launcher launched 3 Cube Satellites and 50 PICO Satellites into a suborbital trajectory.

A RHUMI rocket is equipped with a generic-fuel-based hybrid motor and a parachute deployer that is electrically activated. RHUMI is 100% pyrotechnic-free and has 0% TNT.

Anand Megalingam is leading the mission under the mentorship of Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, former Director of ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC).

By combining liquid and solid fuel propellant systems, the RHUMI-1 rocket improves efficiency and reduces operational costs.

Chennai-based Space Zone India is an aero-technology company providing low-cost, long-term solutions to the space industry.

In addition to providing hands-on training in Aerodynamic principles, Satellite Technology, Drone Technology and Rocket Technology, Space Zone India (SZI) makes people aware of career options in this field. Private institutions, engineering and art and science colleges, as well as private and government schools, work with SZI.

Through the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Students Satellite Launch - In 2023 mission, over 2,500 students from government, tribal, and public schools across the country designed and built a student satellite launch vehicle in 2023. 150 Pico satellite research experiment cubes could be carried in the vehicle.
