Wolf Captured After Coordinated Operation

A wolf responsible for these deadly attacks was captured by forest department officials after an intensive operation. The wolf, part of a pack of six, was driven into a specific path using firecrackers. Once cornered, the animal was tranquilized and safely relocated to a zoo. So far, four wolves have been captured, while two remain at large.

'Operation Bhediya': The Government’s Response

To address the alarming situation, the Uttar Pradesh government initiated 'Operation Bhediya' to capture the remaining wolves roaming in Bahraich's Mehsi tehsil. The operation is being closely monitored by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Advanced Technology and Unusual Tactics Deployed

The Forest Department has deployed 16 teams and is employing advanced techniques such as drone cameras and thermal drone mapping to track the wolves. In a unique strategy, officials have been using elephant dung and urine to simulate the presence of elephants, creating a scent barrier to divert wolves from populated areas. "Wolves, as pack hunters, typically avoid large animals like elephants," an official explained. Additionally, traps with bait have been set up in remote areas.
