 Namibian Male Cheetah Dies at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh  

A male cheetah named Pawan was found lifeless near the edge of a swollen nullah, partially submerged in water and hidden among bushes, around 10:30 AM on Tuesday, according to a statement from Uttam Sharma, the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (APCCF) and Director of the Lion Project.

Pawan, a Namibian cheetah, died in the wild at Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, officials confirmed. This marks the latest cheetah death at KNP, occurring just weeks after the death of Gamini, a five-month-old African cheetah cub, on August 5.


Veterinarians were alerted, and upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the cheetah’s front half, including its head, was submerged in water. No visible external injuries were observed, according to the statement.

The initial cause of death is suspected to be drowning, with further details pending the postmortem report.
