Congress, SP targeted by Mayawati in 1995 attack

Mayawati criticized the Congress for not undertaking a caste survey during its tenures in government, asking why it did not do so.

Continuing her attacks on Congress and Samajwadi Party over caste-based census, Mayawati invoked the June 2, 1995 incident in which she was allegedly assaulted to attack Congress and SP.

"SP had carried out a deadly attack on me on June 2, 1995, after BSP withdrew its support, so why does Congress never speak about this? Meanwhile, the Congress government that was in power at the time also failed to fulfill its responsibility on time. Even when Shri Kanshi Ram Ji was seriously ill and hospitalized, he had to reprimand the Home Minister and the opposition also mobilized in Parliament, so the Congress government intervened," she recalled.

The BSP chief said at that time the Congress-led Central government had ill-intentions to run its government behind the scenes by imposing President's rule in UP, which the BSP foiled.

As well, the whole opposition, including the BJP, had saved me from SP's criminal elements out of humanity and humaneness, so why does Congress keep having trouble with this from time to time?" Mayawati asked.

As well as this, the BSP has been pushing for a caste census for years, first with Congress at the Centre and now with the BJP. The party has been in favor of it for years and still is.

Those who are still silent on the issue of classifying and creamy layer in SC/ST reservation should answer," she directed at SP and Congress after the caste census.

Congress, SP's "double standards" are criticized by Mayawati

Earlier, Mayawati took aim at the Congress' "Samvidhan Samman Sammelan" and urged people to beware of "double standards" of the grand old party and its ally.

In any election, her party would not form an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and the Congress.

According to Mayawati, Ambedkar's followers will never forgive the Congress for not conferring the Bharat Ratna on the main architect of the Constitution during his lifetime or after his death.

Additionally, Mayawati criticized the Congress for not declaring a day of national mourning following the death of Kanshi Ram, who she says gave impetus to Ambedkar's movement.

She said in Hindi, "Be cautious of their double standards of thinking, behavior, and character.".

In Mayawati's view, it is very important to benefit the weaker sections, which is why the BSP has always supported it.
