 An investigation into prostitution in the US led to the arrest of seven Indian-origin men


Indian-origin men were among 21 individuals arrested in a prostitution sting operation in Denton County, Texas. Charges include solicitation, evading arrest, and other offenses.

Over the course of a two-day operation conducted by the Denton County Sheriff's Office, seven Indian-origin men were arrested. As part of the Prostitution Demand Suppression Operation, individuals seeking sexual services were targeted in order to reduce prostitution in the community.


Nikhil Bandi, Nikhil Kummari, Galla Monish, Karthik Rayapati, Nabin Shrestha, Amit Kumar, and Jaikiran Reddy Mekala are seven Indian-origin men arrested in the prostitution sting.


Denton residents Nikhil Bandi and Nikhil Kummari were charged with evading arrest and detention.


Amit Kumar from Little Elm, Galla Monish, Rayapati Karthik, and Nabin Shrestha, all from Denton, were arrested for soliciting prostitution.


In addition to soliciting prostitution involving a minor under 18, Jaikiran Reddy Mekala was also charged with evading arrest and detention.


The operation, which took place on August 14 and 15, resulted in the arrest of 21 people, including seven Indian-origin men. Fourteen of those arrested were charged with soliciting prostitution, a felony.


In addition to the two individuals charged with the more serious second-degree felony of soliciting prostitution involving a minor, two others were arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and three others for evading arrest.


Denton County Sheriff's Office provided an update on August 20th, stating they are actively pursuing leads on other prostitution suspects.
