Maharashtra: 26-Year-Old Doctor Dies by Suicide, Husband Accused in Note

An FIR has been lodged against the husband at Cidco police station for dowry death and abetment to suicide based on a complaint filed by the doctor's family, according to police.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra: A 26-year-old doctor, recently married, allegedly died by suicide after reportedly facing harassment from her husband in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

The doctor, identified as Pratiksha Bhusare, had been married for five months and was working as a medical officer at a prominent private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. On Sunday, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her residence, a police official stated.

Pratiksha left behind a seven-page note accusing her husband of harassment and holding him responsible for her death, the official added.

Following the family's complaint, an FIR has been registered against the husband at Cidco police station under charges of dowry death and abetment to suicide, the official said.

"The suicide note details the harassment she faced from her husband, including accusations about her character and his frequent checking of her phone records and messages. The couple was married on March 27 this year," the official explained.

The woman's father further alleged that the husband, who completed his MBBS in Russia, was pressuring her to bring money from her parents to help him establish his own hospital, the official noted.
